How to create your business on Obsidyun

A step-by-step walkthrough of setting up your business instance on Obsidyun, from sign-up to choosing your plan.

7 min read

Sign up or log in

Start by visiting app.obsidyun.com and creating a new account with your business email address, or log in if you already have one. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication for security.

  • Use your business email for registration
  • Enable two-factor authentication
  • Complete your profile information

Create your business instance

From your dashboard, click the "Create New Business" card to begin the setup wizard. Choose a unique instance name and select your primary business location. You can manage multiple businesses from a single account.

Enter your business information

The setup wizard walks you through entering your business details. This includes your legal business name, your role, your primary branch name, and the currency you operate in. All of these can be updated later.

  • Use your legal business name for compliance
  • Choose a descriptive branch name if you have more than one location
  • Select the correct primary currency for your transactions

Configure taxes

Add the tax rates that apply to your business. You can add multiple tax rates (for example, standard VAT and a reduced rate) and assign them later when creating invoices or products. Tax rates can be edited or added at any time after setup.

Set up your chart of accounts

Obsidyun uses a double-entry general ledger. You can import your existing chart of accounts from a CSV file, or use the default chart that Obsidyun generates for you. Required columns for import are Account Name, Account Type, Description, and Balance.

  • Download and use the provided template for correct formatting
  • File must be CSV format and under 5MB
  • All default accounts will be automatically included if missing from your import

Add bank accounts and choose your plan

Optionally connect your business bank accounts by entering the bank name, account number, routing number, and opening balance. Finally, select a plan that fits your business. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial with full access to all features.
